  • Absolutely not! Of course, it may help you feel more comfortable when speaking to individuals in the market place, but you’ll discover how easy it is to pick up enough information so you sound like a professional.

Once you've decided to become a broker, then you have to choose the business model that best suites you. Do you prefer to join an Agency? Or will you go it alone? Or perhaps the freedom of a remote position coupled with the resources of an established agency like Jet Life is the perfect approach for you.

Finally, what will do you about income for you and your family? As you'll see below, we're looking at up to 6 months without a Paycheck. How will you make ends meet during that time?

By the way, I'm happy to discuss all of these things with you with no strings attached or commitment necessary. SCHEDULE A CALL with me. I've also put together a YouTube Playlist that may be helpful here.

  • Phase 1 is the Getting Started Phase. Getting started involves a few investments:

$1999 one-time fee for the in person 3 Day Bootcamp or $999 for the On Demand pre-recorded Bootcamp.

$399 per month for access to the Private Jet MLS-like system where your call list will come from; as well as on going training with Jet Life Aero.

The 3 Day Virtual Bootcamp will include discovering WHO your target customer is and WHAT problem you solve.

Day 1 AM - An Overview of the Private Aviation World

Day 1 PM - Why people sell their Jets. Why people buy Private Jets. Creating your customer profile so you know how to speak to them effectively.

Day 2 AM - Sales Scripts & Overcoming Objections

Day 2 PM - Market Research on specific makes/models & learning how to ask effective questions to generate professional conversations with high net worth individuals whom you can help

Day 3 AM - Live Phone Calls

  • The breakdown of what it takes to get a listing is as follows:

1 Listing comes from sending out on average 5 solid listing agreement proposals. (20% success rate)

Those 5 proposals come from approx 500 conversations with owners (5% success rate)

Those 500 conversations came out of dialing at least 10,000 phone numbers (5% success rate)

If you made 100 phone calls a day, working 5 days a week, it would take you 20 weeks to get 1 listing.

The good news is, while getting a listing IS a numbers game, there's also an element of timing and luck. Sometimes you get a listing in your first WEEK!

Also keep in mind that the goal is to have a handful of listings under your belt in this time frame, not just 1.

Once you secure the listing then we move on to SELLING!

  • Now that you have the listing, you need to navigate the Sales Cycle of a Private Jet:

    Marketing the Jet

    Handling Incoming Phone Calls

    Negotiating Offers

    Paperwork

    Pre-buy Survey + Results

    Closing

Days to collecting your first Paycheck = 4 - 6 months.

  • At the end of the day it all comes down to the PAY-OFF. You've worked hard for 4-6 months, so what does the commission look like?

Back in PHASE 2, when you got a listing, you would have negotiated a commission. Let's use a standard 6% commission on a $300k Jet.

You would make $7,200 selling that Jet. If you sold 14 Jets that year, you would make $100k take home.

Is this doable? Absolutely, I sold 20+ jets a year in my first two years as a jet broker. But, is there a BETTER way to make more money? YES! There are two ways to make more money: sell a more expensive jet or get a better split with the company.

Now just because a jet is more expensive doesn't mean you always get more money. For example, a $10m Gulfstream won't be paying you 6%! But 6% of a $500k or $1m Jet is definitely an improvement over 6% of a $300k Jet. The catch is, you can't move into those better Jets without getting the experience first.

Now a 60/40 split may make sense when you're first starting out - especially since the brokerage is investing a lot of time, energy, and effort into training you, but what happens when you become more self sufficient? In most brokerages, you're stuck. But what if there was a commission structure that encouraged you to make more sales so that you can make more money as your commission split increases?

Based on the Jet Life Model, instead of selling 14x $300k Jets a year to get to $100k, if you sold only 11.5 $300k jets a year, you'd get to $100k. But let's say you make a jump and go for selling $1m Jets @ 6%. Well normally at 60/40 it would take you a little over 4 Jet sales to get there, with the Jet Life Model, you can see that $100k cap in just 3 transactions.

And here's the best part, once you hit $100k in commission, your split will increase to the point where YOU get the majority of the commission, instead of the brokerage.

But wait there's more. What if the Brokerage actually encouraged you to build up other brokers and paid you for their success? Based on this marketing plan, it is possible!

My Story

After 10 years of working as a Youth Pastor, living pay check to pay check was getting old and frustrating.*

While I loved my job as a Youth Pastor, coming home every night to my growing family always felt like there was more month left than money in the bank.  My wife and I tried to make ends meet by picking up "side hustles" like, graphic design, videography, music teacher, and more but it never seemed like it was enough.

Then one day, I saw a random job posting on Indeed.com to sell Private Jets.

Despite having ZERO aviation experience, my agency took a chance on me, and fast forward a few years later, here I am today wanting to share that same opportunity with other individuals who, like me, are hungry to make a change in their lives, and passionate aviation and about helping others.

The Proposal

There are two ways to become a Jet Broker:

1) Join an Agency. Get all your training, work hard, sell Jets, and be a Jet Salesmen for the rest of your life.

Advantages: training and support. Experience and a Network of resources. Marketing $$ and an Office.

Disadvantages: make less $$, capped potential, stuck with their branding/marketing strategies, difficult to break into.

2) Start on your own. Find resources, find deals, and start selling Jets. You're the boss and have all the reward...and all the risk.

Advantages: Uncapped income potential, make more $$, build your own brand.

Disadvantages: no training, lack of experience/proof of concept, no network, no support.

WHAT IF THERE WAS ANOTHER WAY? A BETTER WAY?

  • What if there was a brokerage that focused on Agents instead of the owner/the bottom line?

  • What if there was a brokerage that allowed you to work from anywhere?

  • What if there was a brokerages focused on helping agents create wealth, not just big paychecks?

  • What if there was a brokerage with all the benefits of joining an agency, making a career in the near future, but with the upside of building up your own brand/business for your future?

Taking a page from the playbook of online real estate brokerage models like EXP, REAL, KW and others, I am looking for individuals interested in helping me build a model Jet Brokerage that gives Jet Brokers the best chance for long term, sustainable success.

Final Thoughts

Becoming a Private Jet Broker is one of those things that sounds super exciting and sexy, but the reality is, it's a lot of hard word. You face rejection on a daily basis. When you're first getting started, you don't know a lot and will have to be ok with learning on the job. I put together this model for aspiring Private Jet Brokers because I've seen what Private Aviation has done for my life, and I want to share that with others.

I know the downside of a traditional brokerage. I also understand how hard it is to do it on your own.

I hope this outline was helpful, answered a few of your questions, and I'd love to connect with you so fill out the form below and schedule a call.
